I few months ago I got cocky and started eating more gluten. But it backfired. I started getting stomach pain and indigestion again. I also noticed my heart beating faster. Maybe I’m working harder to digest? Overall, I’ve learned that a bite here of there of aggravating foods: gluten, alcohol, dairy is fine. But keeping in my diet on the day to day is a bad idea for me. Maybe that will change, but maybe not. I did a stool analysis and saw my lactobacillus was very low. So I’m supplementing with a high quality probiotic. Maybe getting a better gut balance will help. But its confusing. Which is the chicken and the egg. Did my diet create gut dysbiosis or does my dysbiosis (maybe from antibiotics) make it so I can’t eat the diet I use to eat? It probably a cumulative and symbiotic thing. Probably too many factors to wrap my head around. I will say this: I think all the research and hype over guy health is exciting. It gives power to us to be able to help prevent and sometimes heal from diseases through diet and lifestyle. I know we all hear to “eat your fruits and veggies” but finding out exactly why you should eat them – that they make your good gut bacteria thrive – is super motivating to me. So I have increased my fiber (fruit and veggies) consumption. I feel pretty darn good. I hope you do too…
